PEOPLE WATCH RETAILERS The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc., has entered into an Executive Transition Agreement with Tim Grumbacher, chairman of the company's board of directors and its former CEO. Pursuant to the agreement, Grumbacher, who stepped down from the CEO position upon the appointment of Bud Bergren in August, 2004, will serve as the company's executive chairman of the board of directors and a member of the executive committee of the board. Additionally, Robert Sears has joined The Bon-Ton as senior vice president, general merchandise manager for men's and home. Most recently, Sears was with the Saks Department Store Group, Proffitt's Division. IKEA has named Lynda Mee store manager for the new IKEA store opening this summer in Atlanta, GA, and Jim Tilley manager at the coming Frisco, TX, location. David Makuen has been appointed vice president of marketing at Eddie Bauer Inc. Makuen was most recently vice president, marketing of the direct division for the Ann Taylor and LOFT brands. VENDORS Paul D'Alton has resigned as CFO and as a company director at Waterford Wedgwood to take up a position as CFO at AgCert International Limited. Patrick Dowling, currently the company secretary at Waterford Wedgwood, has taken over as acting CFO. S. Lichtenberg & Co., Inc. announced the promotion of Amy Hanlon to vice president of design. Cesar Pagan joins 828 International Trading Company as director of styling and design. He was most recently vice president of styling and design for Karastan. Kitchen textile supplier Kay Dee Design, Inc., has appointed Dwayne Ayers as vice president of sales, national accounts. cmi has promoted Meredith Scarlata to the position of sales support manager and Kristin Henderson and Gregg Scarlata to sales support associates. Scott Guttman has been appointed vice president sales and marketing at Acme Window Coverings. ALLIED TO THE INDUSTRY Architecture and design firm Michael Graves & Associates (MGA) has appointed Frank de Biasi to senior director of interiors for MGA. Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. and the L.A. Mart has named James Nahin director of leasing at the L.A. Mart. Nahin will be responsible for leasing permanent gift and home furnishings showrooms and will report to Gerry Seibel, vice president and general manager of the L.A. Mart. Renae Musterman has joined MHS Licensing as an account executive responsible for developing new business and servicing the company's existing licensee partners. IN MEMORIAM Leo Hollander, chairman and CEO of Hollander Home Fashions, died March 9, 2005. Over the span of his 40-plus year career, Hollander grew the home fashions company into a global organization with more than 1,500 employees and $250 million in annual revenues. He served on the board of directors of Shakamaxon CC and as the chairman of the American Down and Feather Association. Hollander was also a member of the boards of the Home Fashion Products Association and the International Feather and Down Bureau. His son, Jeff Hollander, assumes the additional responsibilities of chairman and CEO.
