Glimpses into products blossoming forth at High Point Market
Spring has arrived and with it a flower basket full of new introductions at High Point Market taking place April 7-13. High Point Market claims to be the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world. More than 85,000 people make the pilgrimage to it every six months. Here is an overview of planned offerings to get your checklist of “must sees” started before your visit.
Cozy Comforts
A new colorful cushion group from CD Designs mixes fabrics and trims, including the company’s bird motif petite point, to create visual excitement. The pillows range in size from 11” x 13” to 23” x 23”.
Corona Décor Co.’s Ernest Hemingway Collection includes decorative pillows, runners, throws and wall décor made from velvets, linens, cottons and wools. All the pieces incorporate designs inspired by the American author’s favorite places and sources of inspiration.
Two elements from the Ernest Hemingway Collection are included here. The Antique Map pillow features an Old World map print on linen in shades of gold, red, green and brown on a blue background. The pillow is embellished with a half-inch cord edge, backed with green linen and filled with a down feather insert.
The Leopard throw measures 56” x 56” and includes a multi-tone tassel fringe. It comes in multi-tone shades of topaz, gold and black and is made of 80 percent cotton and 20 percent wool.

Textillery Weavers’ head designer Judith Rose is weaving on-trend menswear patterns, colors and textures into hand-woven throw designs. Tweeds, plaids, pinstripes and houndstooth are rendered in neutrals mixed with hints of other lighter tones.
The houndstooth check throw from Textillery blends light tobacco and Dijon in a weave of bamboo and cotton yarns. Environmentally sustainable bamboo is light, strong, soft and able to take a variety of dye colors well. The machine-washable throw comes in 42” x 72” and 52” x 72”.
From the Toile de Jouy Collection, this cotton quilt from Amity Home celebrates toile, updating its impact with soft background colors.
HomeTexco offers the Pleasure bedding ensemble in spring colors. The set includes a duvet, Euro and standard shams, cushions, pillows and bedskirt.
The Cariad Collection of fabrics by Jenny Lee-Katz debuts by D’Kei to match its Flirtatious Collection of trimmings. D’Kei is exhibiting in a new booth, #G636 in the Suites at Market Square.
Foot Wear
Complementing all the furniture and offerings at High Point are a plethora of rug introductions.
SuperNova™, introduced by Homespice Décor in January 2007, has two color options added this year—Fire and Black-and-White. The craftsman who handmakes the rug creates a circular pattern at the rug’s center and adds rows of braids connecting the center to the edge, mimicking a Supernova.
Capel showcases a variety of looks at High Point. Standing out from the pack is the Mumtaz-Meshed in a new eight-foot diameter scalloped shape. Made in India of a blend of hand-spun wool yarn, the rug features delicate Persian motifs in contrasting colors in the shaped borders. The rug is available in celadon/cocoa and ivory/champagne.
Skilled artisans create the modern designs in the Silver Collection from Rizzy Rugs by hand knotting each row of 100 percent semi-worsted New Zealand wool.

New in KAS’ Chateau Collection is the Ivory Spa Floral. The Chateau Collection consists of hand-tufted and hand-carved 100 percent wool rugs in understated damask and uncomplicated floral patterns. The rugs are available in seven sizes, including a 5’6” diameter round.
Well-suited for the kitchen is Homefires’ Rooster Time by Jennifer Brinley, a hand-hooked wool rug on a cotton canvas backing. It is offered in four sizes: 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 5’ x 8’ and 8’ x 11’.
Strong, youthful designs distinguish custom-tufted New Zealand wool rugs in the (UN)Limited Collection from New River Artisans. Forty designs in three standard palettes for each or in the designer’s choice from 800 yarn colors are deliverable in four to eight weeks. The Houndstooth Gone Mad rug is shown in four possible color combinations.
Harounian Rugs International (HRI) debuts rugs in its Artistic, Concept, Destiny, Mamlouk and Tibetan Collections. Featured is a new entry from the Artistic Collection. It combines wool and pure silk in Tibetan designs with tone-on-tone colorations. It comes in 6’ x 9’, 8’ x 10’ and 9’ x 12’ sizes.
