RETAILERS
The New Jersey Retail Merchants Association honors Albert Boscov,
chairman of the board of Boscov's Inc., with its annual Retailer
of the Year Award. Under the leadership of Albert Boscov, the 92-year-old
department store chain has experienced its greatest growth and is
now the country's largest family-owned department store, with 38
stores in New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
Albert Boscov promotes many civic interests, sponsoring programs
and exhibits ranging from Boy Scouts, 4-H, and Camp Fire Days to
Black Heritage and Puerto Rican cultural festivals.
The Bombay Company recently announced the appointment of James
D. Carreker to the board of directors and to the position of non-executive
chairman. He is the founder and owner of JDC Holdings, Inc., a Dallas-based
private investment firm.
VENDORS
Ron Spies, vice president of Hunter Douglas customer education
and development group, appointed Wendy Kayser, formerly of Rubbermaid,
regional program manager for the Western United States. Bill Bleil
has been recently appointed to regional program manager of the Eastern
U.S.
Thomas J. Marusak has been named Executive of the Year by The Capital
District Business Review, an Albany, NY-based publication of American
city business journals. Marusak is president of Comfortex.
Susan Moshier has assumed the duties of sales manager for the Home
and Outdoor Living Division at Woolrich, Inc.
ALLIED TO THE INDUSTRY
Five new members have been appointed to the eight-member advisory
board of the George Little Management (GLM), LLC-managed temporaries
at the Dallas International Gift & Home Accessories Market.
Randy McHenry of Snickelldoodles, Nancy Reiter of Ethel & Myrtle,
Inc., Sarah and Tim Schultz of Sarah's Attic, Inc., and Jamie Stray
of The Bearington Collection will meet semi-annually with GLM to
offer feedback related to general marketing and show direction.
Interiors by Decorating Den's senior vice president of franchise
services, Bobbie J. Haseley, announces the appointment of Claudia
Cespedes as the company's new media production manager.
David Hogan has joined The National Retail Federation (NRF) as
senior vice president, chief information officer.
Robert Waller, Jr., executive vice president of the Juvenile Products
Manufacturers Association (JPMA), was recently elected to serve
on the First Candle board of directors. First Candle promotes infant
health and survival during the prenatal period through two years
of age with advocacy, education, and research programs.
The former chief executive of Royal Doulton for Canada and the
U.S.A., Paul Phillips, has been appointed chairman of the board
of The Canadian Gift and Tableware Association.
