KAS Rugs Establishes Licensing Agreement
With Bob Mackie
Bob Mackie, Emmy-award winning fashion and costume designer, has partnered with KAS Rugs in a new licensing agreement. Bob Mackie Rugs will debut at High Point Market in April 2014.
“Bob’s artistic designs and appreciation of color are so unique that they bring an exciting look to our overall KAS assortment, and to the industry as a whole,” says Rao Yarlagadda, president of KAS.
Pantone Reveals Radiant Orchid As 2014 Color Of The Year\
Pantone, an X-Rite company and the global color authority, announced on Dec. 5, 2013, PANTONE® 18-3224 Radiant Orchid, a captivating, magical, enigmatic purple, as the color of the year for 2014.

Foreign Accents Changes Owners
Foreign Accents announces expansion in the sales, marketing and design team and a change in ownership. Founder Trish Rempen says, “After 30 years of success and innovative design, it’s time to hand the reins of rug responsibility over to a new team (shown).”
Trish has recently published her first book, Meanwhile, Back in Los Ranchos, and wants to devote more time to traveling and future books. She will stay on as a design consultant.
New owner Doug Anderson says, “We like what we see at Foreign Accents, and we don’t intend to change anything. Yes, we plan to expand the collections, add designs, and grow the company, but the Foreign Accents look and spirit will remain the same.”
Doug has owned and operated both startup and existing businesses. His son, Kris Anderson, rose to lead a major business group in the financial world. Kris’ wife, Molly Anderson, has worked in merchandising, design, and artistic production.
Rempen says, “We’ll all come to High Point Market in April together, to introduce everyone.”
Surya Debuts 14,000-Square-Foot Dallas Showroom
Surya will open a 14,000-square-foot showroom in Dallas Market Center, space 5-560 during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, Jan. 15-21, 2014. The showroom will also be open daily during non-market hours.
“We’re excited to debut our new Dallas showroom, which will allow us to better serve our designer and retailer customers throughout the central United States,” says Satya Tiwari, president, Surya.
