It’s not a mirage, but rather a rousing roundup of introductions debuting at the Las Vegas Market in August

The World Market Center Las Vegas (WMCLV) is welcoming more than new products during the Las Vegas Market, Aug. 1 to 5, 2011. It is playing host to keynote speaker former president Bill Clinton, who will speak at the World Pavilions at the WMCLV on Aug. 1, 2011, at 6:45 p.m.

Clinton will focus on the challenges involved in globalization, emphasize the nation’s growing interdependence and touch on a common future based on shared goals and values. Following the keynote address, he will participate in a moderated question and answer session.

Attendees at the keynote address will enjoy networking, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before and following the event.

Other events and exhibits during Las Vegas Market include:

  • Social Media Bar: Meet with social media experts who can give you tips on tweeting and information on techniques to put it to the best business use. Open daily in C301.
  • Trash = Art: Working in conjunction with the residents of Opportunity Village, Las Vegas artist, Steven Spann, creates art-form trash by recycling packing materials and broken furniture collected from Las Vegas Market exhibitors during move in. Open daily in C301.
  • B Scene: First Look Gift+Home Exhibit: A showcase of new product trends discovered at the Gift+Home show and curated by Julie Smith Vincente. Open during Market week in Building B, floor 3.

Colonial Mills Inc. (CMI) introduces Renaissance, an indoor/outdoor stain-resistant, reversible rug made with 100 percent Sunbrella® acrylic. The 5- by 8-foot rug retails for $699 and is available in mink, mushroom, graphite, papyrus, wheat and alpaca. Note that CMI’s Las Vegas showroom has moved. It is now in Building B, space 431.
Keeping It Real
Natura World seeks to define organic luxury with its NaturaOrganics™ Mattress Collection, which consists of seven distinct mattresses, each constructed from organic and natural components. The exclusive seven-zone cores, made from certified organic latex and all-natural latex, target pressure relief. The organic ticking is paired with plush certified organic NaturaWool™ lining and additional cashmere wool. Natura World will feature beer, wine and food at a welcome reception in its A946 showroom on Tues., Aug. 2 beginning at 4 p.m.

Funky florals (including the one shown) and a wave design are rendered in an array of bold, modern color combinations. Hand-tufted in India of 100 percent New Zealand Wool, a 5- by 8-foot rug retails for $550.
Fabulous Fleece
Woven Workz debuts the Michaela reversible throw made with 55 percent acrylic and 45 percent polyester. Measuring 50 by 60 inches, the throw is solid color fleece on one side and a two-color basket weave on other. Hand washable and offered in the color sky, it retails for $97.
 

Altamont Capital Partners Invests In The Robert Allen Group

New York-based The Robert Allen Group has received an equity investment from private equity firm Altamont Capital Partners (Altamont).

“We are highly enthusiastic about the combination of strategic guidance and financial backing that Altamont offers our business,” says Robert Allen’s chairman and chief executive officer, Jeff Cordover. The Cordover family maintains a significant ongoing equity ownership stake in the business.
Altamont is a $500 million private equity fund focused on investing in industry-leading businesses to help them realize their full potential. Robert Allen is the firm’s second investment from its inaugural investment fund.

“Robert Allen is a market leader with premium brands and a long history of innovation in the designer fabric industry,” says Steve Brownlie, principal of Altamont. “We believe that the additional capital will allow the company to expand both organically and through acquisitions, and we look forward to supporting the existing management team in its pursuit of the many opportunities the industry presents.”
