Fashion Must Haves
By Wanda Jankowski

A baker’s dozen of top trends in fashion bedding illustrated with real-life examples designed to satisfy the hearts’ desires of today’s consumers

Soft Modern Style The popularity of soft modern and transitional styles continues to grow. Geometrics, latticework and other streamlined concepts are often focal points. Palisade from J. Queen New York exemplifies this with the bold geometric pattern presented in elegant silver tone-on-tone. The 100 percent polyester comforter is reversible.
Classic With A Twist Fresh looks with appeal for younger generations as well as those who gravitate toward transitional design are achieved by updating classic motifs, such as animal print, paisley and scrollwork, using clean lines and on-trend colors. The Whimsy duvet from m.style is replete with playful paisleys in light-hearted colors—golden yellow, coral, sea-glass blue and kiwi green.
Regional & Niche Designs Never fading from the top of the best-selling list are prints that capture themes ideally suited for coastal, country and vacation-home dwellers or those who want a touch of resort or exotic island living in their everyday lives. The 100 percent cotton Greenport from Nautica is a seasonal novelty print that presents pops of coral, mint green and ocean blue in a tropical oasis design.
Direct From The Runway Gone is the lag time between the appearance of trends in apparel fashions and home fashions. Some patterns today are even making it into fashion bedding directly from the runway with minimal adaptation. The Nanette Lepore Villa Collection will be on view in the Peking Handicraft Inc. (PHI) showroom during the September N.Y. Home Fashions Market. Many of the designs are drawn directly from fashion designer Lepore’s current or archived apparel prints. Shown with its couture doppelganger is Botanical Porcelain. Embroidered birds in turquoise are scattered throughout the pattern of black, white and coral flowers and birds printed on the coral-colored cotton background.
